Janet Cloudt and HSHA Supports Foundation Communities
Dear Readers,
I’m excited to announce a community foundation that I am supporting. It’s called Foundation Communities, and you can check out their website right here, http://www.foundationcom.org. Foundation Communities provides real, long-term solutions for people who are very low income. With a focus on providing quality housing that people can be proud to call home, Foundation Communities provides affordable housing for more than 2000 families in the Austin, Dallas and Ft. Worth areas. They offer on-site support services to their residents which include job training, financial counseling, youth programs, free tax preparation, parenting classes, and free on-site afterschool care for children so parents can keep their jobs. These learning centers provide guidance for children, including tutors for homework and a nutritious snack, and are a centerpiece of stabilizing families’ lives.
Where Foundation’s communities have opened, property values have gone up, crime has gone down, and once at-risk schools have begun to thrive. Housing has been provided for thousands of people and communities have been stabilized. By providing a safe, secure, quality place to live, some fundamental services, a bank account, an address, and personal dignity intact, Foundation Communities is treating the root cause of the poverty cycle and making a positive impact on our local community.
Please join me in supporting this great foundation! You can make a monetary contribution on the Foundation Communities website, or sign-up to volunteer in some other important way. The annual fundraiser will be held in Austin on October 27th. For additional information, please feel free to contact me.
As Bob Hope once said, “If you haven’t any charity in your heart, then you have the worst kind of heart trouble.”
Please consider joining me in supporting this very important foundation.
Best,
Janet
