Better than store-bought homemade hot sauce
A few years ago I got the idea to make my own hot sauce. It seemed that my family could consume a jar of the yummy stuff faster than I could say jalapeno. As the varieties became more sophisticated, and the prices increased, I just got tired of paying so much for my salsa. If you’re a lover of hot sauce and interested in saving some money off your grocery bill, try this simple recipe:
1 can Rotel Tomatoes
1 garlic glove (minced)
1 handful of fresh cilantro
I use a mini food processor to chop and mix the ingredients. First I put the cilantro and garlic clove in the bowl and chop, and then I add the Rotel and blend the ingredients. If you prefer your hot sauce extra spicy you can seed and slice a Serrano pepper and add it in with the garlic and cilantro. To me, this is an excellent hot sauce, and roughly costs 1/3 as much as a jar of moderately priced hot sauce. You can make it twice and pour it into an empty jar and it will keep in the refrigerator a week or so. The best part of this recipe besides it’s price tag is that I have yet to meet a person who doesn’t love it!
Enjoy!
